Job Title: AWS Platform Engineer
Location: Remote (Washington, DC)
Program: Department of State - Advanced Data Analytics (ADD) Program

Overview:
As an AWS Platform Engineer for Improvix, supporting the Department of State’s Advanced Data Analytics (ADD) Program, you will be responsible for designing, securing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will collaborate with various teams to implement security best practices, automation, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes. Your role is critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of AWS infrastructure while adhering to industry regulations and supporting the Department of State's data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and manage secure, scalable AWS infrastructure, focusing on services like EC2, S3, Lambda, and VPC.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Automate AWS tasks with Python and AWS CLI to improve cloud resource management.
• Monitor and secure AWS environments using tools such as AWS GuardDuty, Inspector, and CloudWatch.
• Integrate security best practices into AWS-based applications and infrastructure.
• Perform incident investigations and root cause analysis for AWS services.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to enhance AWS security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., NIST, GDPR, HIPAA).
• Ensure continuous monitoring of AWS environments for vulnerabilities and security threats.

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing AWS infrastructure and security services.
• Proficiency in AWS automation tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CLI.
• Familiarity with AWS security tools (GuardDuty, Macie, CloudWatch).
• Strong knowledge of networking and security protocols in cloud environments.
• Experience with Python scripting for automating cloud tasks.
• Active Secret security clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
• Experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or cloud security role.
• Knowledge of incident response, vulnerability management, and cloud compliance frameworks.
