Job Description

Based in our newly remodeled Des Moines office, we’re looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Payroll Manager who gets satisfaction from ensuring every employee is paid correctly, every compliance requirement is met flawlessly, and every process works efficiently.

What You’ll Do:

  • Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employee-owners across multiple states using Spectrum ERP
  • Handle certified payroll for government contracts and monthly DOL reporting
  • Prepare and maintain tax filings and reports at federal, state, and local levels
  • Process and track garnishments and legal deductions with accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with union agreements and multi-state regulations
  • Manage monthly union benefit reporting and compliance with collective bargaining agreements
  • Reconcile benefits, deductions, and account balances monthly

What You Bring:

  • 5 or more years of hands-on payroll processing and management experience with demonstrable understanding of payroll fundamentals
  • Deep knowledge of payroll tax requirements, deduction calculations, and compliance issues—not just process execution
  • Proven experience processing payroll within ERP systems, with Spectrum experience strongly preferred
  • Experience successfully managing payroll and time & attendance system migrations and implementations
  • Hands-on experience with union payroll processing and compliance with collective bargaining agreements
  • Multi-state tax regulation knowledge
  • Certified payroll expertise with Davis-Bacon compliance knowledge
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting skills—you can find and fix discrepancies before they become problems
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to 100% accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills that make complex payroll concepts easy to understand
  • Experience working in building automations construction industry a plus
